Check-in and purchase a ticket at Gulf Air

You can buy tickets for Gulf Air flights on the airline’s website or through special aggregators or our website widget. You need to choose:

  • Route (“From” and “To”, in some cases you need to select a specific airport);
  • Departure date;
  • Return date (for round-trip flights);
  • Number of passengers, presence of children.

After that the system will show available options with full flight information – flight number, plane, type of flight (direct, connecting), travel time and other flight information.

You need to choose a flight, class of service (economy, business) and fare. Additional options depend on the fare – for example, the number of baggage boxes, the ability to choose a seat on the plane, the number of bonus “miles” accrued, the cost of changing or canceling.

Now you need to fill in passenger information – name, surname, loyalty program member number, contact details. After confirming the purchase, it will be possible to choose additional services and pay for tickets.

Check-in rules

There are two forms of check-in:

  • Online (via airline or intermediary website)
  • Offline (at the airport check-in desk)

Depending on the type of flight (international or domestic) and check-in format, the start and end times of plane check-in differ (see below). You should have with you:

  • Passport or birth certificate (for children under 14 years old)
  • Foreign passport (with visa)
  • Tickets

Features:

  • If you are flying with friends or family, you can pre-register on behalf of the whole group. You must have their passports and tickets;
  • During check-in, passengers may be asked standard security questions;
  • Passengers traveling in business class (Falcon Gold) and Gold and Black loyalty program members can wait for their flight in the VIP lounge.

Registration time

Online check-in for Gulf Air international and domestic flights starts 24 hours prior to departure and ends 3 hours prior to departure.

Offline check-in for international flights starts 3 hours prior to departure and for domestic flights 2 hours prior to departure. Check-in at the counter ends one hour before departure.

For online registration, you need:

  1. Go to airline site Gulf Air;
  2. Enter the registration data – name and surname (as in the ticket) and reservation number. Sometimes additional data may be required – e.g. flight number, date of departure, etc…;

Receive a boarding pass. It will come by email or SMS. You should save it on your phone, or better yet, print it out.

During online check-in, you can choose your seat on the plane (if you didn’t choose it during purchase).

If you have luggage, after arrival at the airport you should go straight to the baggage claim desk (Drop-off or Fast Drop) to check it in. If it is not available – at the regular check-in counter. Here you will need to stick it on the baggage tag Gulf Air and pay for excess baggage, if it exceeds the norms of free transportation by weight or size.

Finally, you can go to immigration (for international flights) and security checkpoints. Economy Class passengers and Blue and Silver loyalty program members can wait for boarding in the general lounge, while Business Class passengers and FalconFlyer Gold and Black members can wait in the VIP lounge.

You will need to show your boarding pass when boarding the plane.

Online check-in for flights is not possible if:

  • Transport animals (even a guide dog);
  • Transport weapons or ammunition;
  • Need an escort service for a child without a parent.

Check-in instructions at airport terminals

Offline check-in takes place at the check-in counters at the departure airport. You need to go to the Check-In counter – it will be indicated on the board for your flight.

Business Class passengers check-in at separate counters without general queues.

At the check-in desk, you need to show your passport and tickets, check in and drop off your luggage, and get a boarding pass. Sometimes they may check your hand luggage for compliance with the dimensions.

If you did not choose a seat on the plane when buying tickets, you can do it at the check-in desk. But the choice will be as limited as possible – the best seats are already occupied by those who chose them when buying or online check-in (it opens 21-22 hours earlier than offline check-in).

Some airports have self-check-in kiosks or terminals (usually located near the regular Check-In counters). At these kiosks, passengers can check-in for their flights themselves. To do this, you need to provide your ticket or reservation number, or sometimes just scan your passport.

The further procedure is the same as for online check-in – immigration control (for international flights), security control, waiting in the general or VIP lounge and boarding.
